The
major tourist sites
The
typical Seine-et-Marne villages:
Samois-sur-Seine, the famous Django Reihnart
village, where the International Jazz festival
is organised yearly in June.
Moret sur Loing is « one of the most
picturesque villages in France »; it is located
on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest; it is a
medieval town with a very rich architectural patrimony.
Barbizon is the world famous painters’
village. About a hundred impressionist painters
(Corot, Millet, Rousseau…) have stayed
here.
The
not-to-be-missed touristic and cultural
sites:
Fontainebleau, the royal
and imperial city. It is the capital of horse-related
activities. The castle should to be visited;
the most important French sovereigns lived there.
Provins: the « Cité médiévale
de Provins” is a medieval fortified town,
classified amongst Unesco’s world patrimony.
Château deVaux le Vicomte,
is the masterpiece of three highly talented artists
that Nicolas Fouquet, a patron of genius, gathered
together: Louis Le Vau was the architect, Charles
Le Brun le “designer” and André
Le Nôtre the landscape architect.
The Blandy les Tours Middle-age castle:outstanding
fortress, one of the most touristic sites of the
area.
